wheres the DAM GRADIENT TOOL *grr*

im new to photoshop cs2, and im following this guide on how to draw a simple ball.

I got to step number 3...and now i cannot for the life in me find the graident tool. Ive been into the help files and net, and it just doesnt appear on my toolbox!!! or am i going crazy

I don't have CS2. But in version 7 you have to hold down the fill tool for the gradient tool toggle menu to appear.

You may need to toggle one of the menu items to bring the gradient back up, try the ones with the tiny black arrow at the bottom right of it's icon.

You seem to be missing quite a few tools from the tool panel

This is what mine looks like:

You would normally use the gradient tool by right clicking on the fill tool (bucket icon) and selecting it from the drop down menu.

ive held down all the ones that have the little arrow in the corner,but it just isnt there

mate that looks like adobe image ready tool bar that you have open there and not photoshop ( they do look very a like )

you are probably just opening with the wrong icon.

You have opened Image ready.

Click on the icon next to the "feathers" at the bottom.

This takes you back to photoshop.

Then press and holrd down the bucket icon ( gradient option will appear)

Double edit ( ?? ) I was Too slow

on the tutorial, im now stuck on #6

ive made a new layer, coloured it purple but how do i "Overlay color fill"

It probably means set the blending mode to Overlay. Just select the layer and change the blending mode with the drop down menu.
