The unflavoured whey from "my protein" is pretty good, you are better off with this as you can add it to anything you like and it will taste pretty nuetral in milk.

Sorry didnt see te question about whey concentrate and isolate.

Isolate is only really useful for more advanced body builders after a session, it will be absorbed super quickly and then you will have no protein in your blood stream until your next meal.

Concentrate is the one that you want, its cheaper and will last longer in the blood stream, i.e. give you a slower more timed release inbetween meals and keep you going.

^ I think you have been reading too much marketing gumph.

Isolate and concentrate are exactly the same thing, isolate has had an extra filtration stage to remove more of the fat and lactose so you get a powder that's around 95% protein compared to about 85% for concentrate.

Go for concentrate, the premium you pay for isolate isn't worthwhile and there will be no real world difference.

Perhaps........but we came to the same end result right? ;)

definitely buy unflavoured then add your own flavourings, however if you do want a nice tasting shake, then go for vanilla, much nicer in taste than the others :D

Hehe cheers buddy, but you should really thank S7yl3s who gave me the link in the first place. I need to order some, i've only got about 5 servings of this stuff left.

Concentrate is more like 75%, but it's still better value than isolate. Nazbit, were you thinking of glutamine with ester?

the only point at which you would ever want to use an isolate is when prepping for a show. concentrate can contain a large number of unknown variables. the price premium isn't worth it to be honest.stick with the concentrate it will be fine.

Whislt we're having a whey protein thread, I have a question. Everything I read about whey protein seems to involve putting it in a milk shake, problem is I detest milk. If I stick it in a blender when making a fruit smoothie would I be able to taste the whey?

Just mix it with a little water and get it down your neck!! :)

You can mix it with whatever you feel suitable, water, juice, fruit........

Just use water, personally I find the more you dilute it the worse it tastes, so for example if your told to use 500ml of water I find using around 200ml improves the taste quite a bit.

I took advantage of the offer posted above by $loth and the stuffs great. Mix's well (considering I'm without a mixer or blender till monday) and tastes of nothing with just milk. My only problem is I don't have a scoop with weight measures on it so I've been guessing using a desert spoon... not the best idea but hey its only till monday when I can get to the shops :D

Great stuff and thanks for posting the link/offer!! value for money needed when your a student ;)

That's excellent stuff, glad you're enjoying the protein.

if you cannot find a scoop they do sell them on myprotein where you purchased the protein.

i thought the protein tubs came with scoops in them, but for things like creatine etc you need to purchase the smaller scoops.

have a dig around the top of the tub, you might find a 30g scoop (i think they are 30g)
