I will be needing a 12GB kit cause i work a lot of CAD, and i was thinking this ones.

Corsair 12GB DDR3-1600 Ram Kit (PC3 12800, 9-9-9-24, HX3X12G1600C9)

But i have been suggested that it's not a good choice. It is 1600Mhz, dont want more, and i definitely do not want less, and timings are 9-9-9-9 which i guess can drop with a little tewaking.

Do you think this is a bad choice? What would you suggest? This sites stores offers some good choices but they're all 6GB kit, and for the moment i want to stick with the 12.

What's your opinion? Please let me know cause i'm in the process of ordering the parts and building my new Computer, and i cant wait a moment longer (I've been researching parts for 2 week in order to conclude for every one of them)!

Welcome to the OcUK forums!

Please read the FAQ as you are not allowed to link to competitors sites. I'm not sure personally that a Greek site is strictly a competitor, but I would say to be safe that linking to any site that sells hardware of a similar nature to OcUK would be considered a competitor.

Nonetheless i removed the link, and posted the name of the KIT. I do hope though it is allowed for competitor RAMs to be named? J/k. :)

So anyway guys, i'm really looking forward to your answers as this will help me decide what's best for my total build.

I will be using a rampage 2 extreme with 920 and enermax 1250W (before anyone asks).

If you are not going to be OCing, you could save some $$$ and go with our 12GB 1333 kit. But, if you are OCing or want that extra bit of performance, then the kit you listed is a good choice.

Thanx for the reply, i will be overclocking, it's just that people keep telling me to either go for higher frequency RAM and also to prefer 6GB kit cause 12 are just as stable, and dont allow for extreme overclocking, and that's what is keeping me confused and delaying me from making my choice.

If the cost is not too great, get the 1600 kit. You may or may not get a full 1600+ running 12GB as it will depend on your CPU/IMC. But, you will know that the memory is not holding you back in any way.

It's not the amounts specifically. It's the number of modules vs the limits of the memory controller. Logically, no memory controller can clock 6 modules as fast as it can 3, or 4/2 on dual channel boards. And, it will vary from CPU/IMC.

So the fewer the modules the better the overclock chances?

That applyw to any combination or is it also channel dependant? For example is it also preferable 3x1 on triple channel vs 2x2 or 2x1 DDR3?Or a triple channel combination will beat a solo or a double RAM modules?
