Planning to use just for storage so won't be accessing a huge amount.

The cheapeast 1TB drive that OCUK do is the Seagate Barracude (ST1000DM003) @ £43.99

I'm assuming there is nothing wrong with these drives, is there an obvious alternative?

Given the annoying regular clicking my 2TB version makes I'd personally find an alternative.

I recently purchased a basic system for some elderly relatives and the one thing I asked OCUK to change was to pay an extra £13 for a WD Black drive of half the capacity ;)

The reason is the loud clicking and/or failures I've personally had in the past with Seagate.

For basic storage (non boot drive) I would consider WD Red and for faster than that the WD Blacks are great and have a 5 year warranty. I've used a lot of WD Blue drives as well, but I tend to have two uses in mind and the Red/Blacks cover that nicely. Greens are fine if you're not using them 24x7, but I tried this before Reds existed and had a few failures (all promptly dealt with by WD)

For reference all the WD Black drives I've bought in the last few years have been very quiet, not quite on a par with the Red due to its slower spin speed but very little head noise and no annoying loud clicks!

I have bought 6 of the 2TB versions in the last 4 weeks and all are fine.
1TB for 43.99 or 2tb for 59.99 seems like really good pricing IMO

Thanks for the feedback guys. Considering the drive will get little use, I think I will just go for the Seagate.
