Just bought one, can't miss out on a double discount - this week only AND free delivery - I hope OCUK keep this going past the end of the month, works well for me!

Now I have so much spaaaaace! Including my 'tiny' Hitachi, 1.25Tb, blimey... time to get capturing my 30-odd Mini-DV tapes!
 
Ordered the WD1001FALS 1TB drive on Weds and according to tracker I should have it today :)

Any advice how best to set it up. It will be my C: drive with Windows XP on. Should I format it and copy across the drive image of my existing installation or would I be best to re-install everything?

Also is there something in the BIOS I can change to make it run faster ? I cant remember what it is but I seam to remember reading about enabling something in bios then having to re-install windows for that drive feature to be available

Any comments would be most welcome

I think i'll do clean install. Just readingf a few threads and I think it was NCQ I might have been thinking of. From what I have read for a desktop PC it probably wont make any difference.

My next dilema is should I format as one big partition or a couple of smaller ones. I am tempted to having one big one. (I back up to an external drive using Acronis 10 home)
