Currently using a 256gb 840 Pro but after a reformat and a few games installed I'm already under 100gb and GTA V is out soon which is huge in size as well. I thought about moving up to a 512 but it seems rather pointless and would be better off long term just going straight to 1TB.

Just add on a 512 GB ssd for storage? Keep current os ssd

You can always grab another 512gb and sell 256gb ssd later on when need be

not many 1tb SSD's but list below

YOUR BASKET
1 x Crucial MX200 1.0TB 2.5" SSD SATA 6Gbps 7mm Solid State Drive (CT1000MX200SSD1) £364.99
1 x Samsung 1.0TB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-75E1T0B/EU) £349.98
1 x Crucial BX100 1.0TB SSD SATA 6Gbps 7mm Solid State Drive (CT1000BX100SSD1) £319.99
Total : £1,044.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

I would mostprob get the BX100, is it going to be a storage drive or have your OS on it as well?

I would keep the 840 as your OS drive and then have the 1tb as a storage drive for games etc

I currently use a 250GB EVO for os and applications and a Samsung Spinpoint F1 750GB for games off Steam. I have 54 games on it and have 300GB left.

I would recommend you get a big mechanical drive for games and use your SSD for os and applications. It would work out a lot cheaper.

They say it doesn't,but its still unproven in the real world

If you want a Samsung ssd buy the pro models, they have no issues

Ignor wazza he's just trolling, the 850 EVOs are fine.

If I was you wanting everything on one drive, I'd have the largest I could afford, either samsung (not 840 EVO) or one of the Crucial models.

I wondered when you'd show up, you a Samsung sales rep? Haha

I'm always serious,you have a warranty anyway but I wouldn't trust a Samsung TLC nand ssd atm,and I'm a huuuge Samsung fanboy

Yes, that's why you say it isn't it, you know I will correct your misinformation. It's no longer misinformation though, because you've been set straight by several people several times, so now you just look like a troll.

Before you feel the urge to regurgitate the same old misinformation, spare a thought for the inocent people who come here for help and advise.

When was I corrected?

I always help people, can you predict the future then? They said the 840 evo's were fine, were still waiting for a permanent fix,I don't care what Samsung or what folks say I want to see real world proof

You can't just say the drive is fine if it hasn't been out long enough to fully know,no matter what the techs say

I ain't trying to cause aeguement I just think you need to wait and see before saying they are unaffected

Ayahuasca the 850 doesn't currently have any issue BUT nor did the 840 for ages who knows what the future holds! Wazza has some sound advice here pal, John is just trying to start a fight by the looks of it.

Does your board take m.2?

Ps my last build before the last sale I did had two 1Tb Evo 840s I REALLY wish I had gone for a 3 500's in raid 0 but that's just my opinion.
