I've recently done a fair bit of research into 24" screens and found a lot of complaints about the latest Dell offerings. I ended up going for the BenQ FP241VW and its fantastic - no lag problems of any kind at all, and I do a lot of FPS gaming. OCUK have a great offer on this screen atm.
Seems there's a trade off, really fast update (TN) or better picture (VA,IPS).
So for the fastest panel youre probably looking at one of the cheaper ones, which is lucky.
Yes it's a TN but i haven't had any viewing angle related issues at all. It is a touch darker at the bottom of the screen if you really try to see it but it certainly doesn't effect any games i play.
The stand is good with decent height adjustment... it even rotates 90 degrees.
As for input lag i would say that it is as good as my old Samsung 226BW (a very highly recommended 22" gaming tft) also ghosting is barely noticeable. There's a touch but only very faint and only if you look close.
Finally i'll add that the scaling on the screen is some of the best i've seen - non native res' are something i'd happily use. Not something that could be said of my old Samusung.
The OcUK/Digimate L2442WD has very little input lag (especially for a non TN), can't remember exactly but it's less than one frame average, check out the long thread.
Here's the info I was talking about - the Iolair MB24W is the same as the OcUK L2442WD and the Yaraku 24", and apparently has zero input lag versus a CRT -
If I were getting a 24" it would have to be this, plus you avoid TN viewing angles, and the price is excellent, but of course you may have to return a few to get a good one since it's a budget brand (Digimate) as the big thread about it in this forum shows.
Hmm, it does look nice, but there's too many variables for my liking. The fact that people are getting different panels on the same screen - plus the review link says the screen has HDCP which the OCUK digimate doesn't...
Don't get my wrong, I've umm'ed and ahh'ed for about 3 months over the digimate and other PVA's. At the end of the day, the only PVA under £400 (exc VAT) with decent input lag I found was the BenQ (which had 33ms lag on the standard version and 27 on the VW for a £100 premium).
Interestingly the french review doesn't actually have photos of the input lag, although they have put in a graph of the results, it leaves me slightly sceptical to what they were comparing it...
