is your cpu at 10x260 because thats the starting point, you'll need 260fsb to run your ram 1:1 with it.
Answer to your second question, I don't think there is a cheap option unless you count the £160 I just spend on gskill HZ as cheap (which tbh for a 2gb kit I do).
Finally, performance gain... probably noticeable in benchmarks but everyday usage?? doubtful.
