Gigabyte Aero delivered on time this morning, still setting up and making friends.

I Knew I would want to upgrade storage but wanted to be 100% certain what I had before I order.

It is not all that easy to be certain but I think I have an Aero 17 HDR YB (maybe YA) It is 10th generation i9 and Gigabyte say it has 2 M.2 SSD slots each supporting 1x NVme PCI 7 SATA. However, one review of a similar model suggested that the spare slot doesn't have room for a full size m2.

i have searched Gigabyte's site high and low but can find no detailed reference. I phone to add to my order yesterday but o'clockers phone line guy thought both slots are occupied. According to Windows there is a single 500GB ssd, suggesting the 2nd is available but how do I find out if a full sized m2 card fits. I am pretty certain nothing with a heatsink will fit.

Tahnk you for taking the time to read.

So you have the machine? The way to be sure is to act as if you're about to install the second drive. Remove the bottom/panel/whatever and use the mk 1 eyeball to compare the (possibly) available slot with the one that's already there. I have a very strong feeling that no-one uses NVMe drives in anything other than 80mm and the only other size I've seen for SATA is 42mm.

Thanks snapshot. I'm going to give a go tomorrow. Just trying to avoid warranty issues. I find it frustrating that manufacturers don't give any/easy access to full tech documentation.

HP are an honourable exception to this. I've been able to download the technical/maintenance manuals for wifey's old snail of a laptop and the swish new Pavilion we just got to replace it.
