Which 2TB / 3TB Drive?

Hey all, i had a failure of a old drive and need to get it replaced as running out of room, i have normally gone for WD however i am open to other brands.

The drive will be used for storage, as well as video editing

any recommendations ?

I would stick with the WD Drives, they are normally good HDDs

so i am guessing Blue is standard use?

Blue is only up to 1TB.

green is for cool and quite, blue is for performance and black max performance

list of WD Drives from 2tb onwards, green, black and red drives all listed just depends on your budget and needs

I would go for the blacks as you would be using it for video editing as well as storage, if they are too much then go for the greens

Yeah black it is. I am correct in thinking fast mechanical drives are better than ssd for video editing ?

to be honest I cant comment on video editing but as far as im aware SSDs are faster than a HDD as HDDs speeds are limited by moving parts where SSds are not and can reach much higher speeds an access times

you cannot get SSD speeds on a HDD, fastest HDD you can get are the WD raptor drives which ran at 10,000 RPM instead of the standard 7200 or 5400 drives

Oh yeah I am aware that ssds are waaaay faster and use them for my os and apps. Even have one for steam and one for origin

But I am sure someone said when video editing a fast merchical handles it better.
