Which 2Tb drive?

I'd say just go with the cheapest of the 3, Western Digital are good and why pay £30 more for the same thing? Or £50 for double the cache?

Well OK, I can understand you may want the extra cache, but is it really worth that extra £50?

None. they are stupidly expensive.
get 2x1.5TB which works out cheaper and you get an extra TB and if need a cheap pci raid card. If you are short of sata connections.

yup the hitachis hopefully £160-170

It should hopefully make the other hd companies realise they gotta drop prices to compete we definatly need them to reduce a fair chunk of overcharge/profit that there clearly making on the 2tbs since its new tech !

I'm gonna buy a new 2tb drive but not sure which one to get? There are 3 advertised here on OC.
two by WD and one seagate, any ideas?

Cheers
Ferret

Depending on your budget and how quickly you want the drive, I'd recommend waiting for this to come out.
Caviar Black hard drives (the 1tb in particular) blow the competition away in almost every test, and aren't very far behind raptors either, and I haven't yet found a single complaint about their reliability. :D

Windows has a 2gb limit on a drivesize doesn't it? Not talking partitions, is it 2gb or 4 Gb? Maybe I am talking madness, hmm was sure there was some limit, can someone set me right, and will W7 64bit have similar limitations?

MBR partitions are limted to 2TB, where as GPT partitions have no such limit.
So assuming you are using an OS that supports GPT (Vista/Win7) then its a non issue ;)
