ideally i dont want to spend more than £65. currently im looking at either

500Gb Hitachi T7K500 7200rpm 16mb Cache SATA II Hard Drive
Spin Speed:7200rpm
Buffer:16Mb
Access Time :8.5msInterface
S-ATA II 3.0
Bearing Type:Fluid dynamic bearing

or

500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm S-ATAII 32mb Cache HardDrive

Spin Speed:7200rpm
Buffer:32MB
Access Time:8.5ms
Interface:SATA-II

which do you think ? feel free to suggest others too.

vote for the WD AAKS as i have 1 & it's quiet & performance is good
ou of those 2 the Barracuda does have double the cache of the Hitachi, so that may provide more performance boost in heavy usage apps

now i see Slackworth has been registered since 2002 and he is a commisario but he only has 388 posts which tells me he never posts on anything unless he knows what he is talking about...

Many post count changes...

well mr Slackworth, what 500 gig drive gets your vote ?

WD5000AAKS or Seagate ST3500320AS. I'd take the Seagate at the moment if it was my money.

I cant seem to find any good comparisions, is the latest Seagate 7200.11 hard-drives faster? are they just as quiet?

Would appreciate the info.
