Which 500GB HD?

I like Seagate nice warranty and I never had any problems with their drives.

WD are good. Samsung's is also meant to be very good and almost silent :eek:

Slackworth is right, I've got a 7200.10 and it is very quick and near enough inaudible but if I was buying now I think I'd pick an AAKS drive as they are just a shade faster.

Samsung Spinpoint is getting great reviews, I'm edging towards that one.

I'm looking for a 500GB drive as well and the specs for the new Seagate 7200.11 drive looks quite good. It has 32MB cache just like the 1TB drive and I think it only uses 2*250GB platters. Hopefully it will be available soon.

Ordered a 500Gb WD today because it was the cheapest and judging by everyones replies I made the right choice

. It's replacing a Seagate 200gb which I've never been to impressed with, it's loud and isn't particularly fast either

.
