I'm after a 500GB SSD for OS, games, applications and files on my laptop but there are many brands to choose from such as Samsung, Sandisk. Crucial and WD, which one is best value for money and performance?

All much of a muchness - performance will be similar across the board. Just go with whichever one suits your budget. Google it for more comparisons if you wish.

I'd recommend a 500GB 850 EVO. 5 year warranty, best performance and reliability out of all SATA drives (apart from the Samsung 850 pro).
