Hi. I currently have Xp but want to get rid of it and upgrade to Vista.

Just wondering which linux you can recommend for a 64 bit amd and if it can easily share files with vista (using ntfs).

Also, would it be too difficult to triple boot linux, vista and xp? this is just in case i find something doesn't work with vista and have to go back to xp for a bit until it does.

thanks.

The choice of Distro is yours to make :) All use the same kernel foundation, they just have their own flavor of operating.

If you are completely new to Linux, I would suggest Ubuntu or Fedora.

Booting multiple OS's shouldn't be a problem. Just install windows first, and then Linux last - on separate partitions for each. (Note: You may have difficulty running multiple versions of Windows.. they [MS] can be funny about it sometimes.)

K then from what I've read I'll use Ubuntu but what about the file sharing between windows and linux? can ubuntu write ntfs well? or is it juust reading it/

Writing to NTFS from Linux is possible, but is not considered 'stable' yet.

Through my experiences with Windows, it is rare you'll ever need to write to a windows shared partition anyway.
