Which 640GB!?

Hi there,

Trying to choose if I should get a HDD today or not.

I now understand that the new drives with the 334/320GB platters are the fastest and the one's that have these platters are the Samsung 1TB, Samsung 640GB, WD 640GB and the 320GB made by the same companies.

I haven't read good things about the WD 320GB so was thinking of getting a Samsung 320GB but these are delayed...

Wanting one now I started to look at the 640GB HDD's as these still use the same platters and should be just as fast with more space.

Basically which drive would people go for in the 640GB range? The WD are on offer this week so they look to be a bit of a bargain do they not?

I can't find a site that directly compares the Samsung HD642JJ and the WD6400AAKS against each other but am I right in thinking that it will be basically nothing? Noise should be about the same to?

WD it is, with them being in TWO and ni-on exactly the same all over the place it just makes sense.

I am in the same position.

I want (x2) HD32HJ

But I reckon I'm gonna be forced to get the bigger (x1) HD642JJ

BTW, that link to the other thread made no sense to me, those graphs... swoooooosh. Not a clue.
