Which 64GB SSD?

I'm currently considering a new pc (or upgrade to this one with windows 7) and was thinking of getting a small SSD to go with 2x 1.5TB (seagate 7200.12) drives. I'm now trying to decide if the Corsair Extreme X64 is worth the extra over the Crucial M225 or Kingston V+?

I'm edging to the M225 due to the higher write speeds but if it's not the best option I'll happily change :)

So can I get some opinions/user experiences etc to help in my decision :D

Ta very much

i'll be monitoring this as i want to do a similar setup too, though i may go with an intel ssd thats 80gb

I would jump on the M225 band wagon since crucial is more dedicated to upgrading the firmware than samsung is according to the forums. Personally I have an intel, and if you can afford one, get one :).

Anyone know what happened to OCZ? Seems like the agility was only around for a few months and the vertex discontinued. I'm also in the same boat but I think I'll be going for the M2225 now, when I justify it to myself ;)

Have you considered the Samsung 64gb? I'm in exactly the same position to you, and the Samsung seems to have taken my liking.
I think they had the slower controller (and a slow spot in reading iirc) so didn't really like the idea as much as I like samsung products

Is that the Intel x-25m, the write speed is slower than the others isn't it?

I'm not sure I need 80GB as its not going to be holding a great deal and I'm coming from 4 year old hard drives (relatively slow by todays standards) so it looks like I'll be getting a M225 then :)

Ta very much everyone

I would go for OCZ Vertex, especially if you want to raid them in the near future. Nobody seems to answer questions from support on the Crucial forums, where as OCZ are really on the ball, even have a firmware out with garbage collection for people with raid which does not have drivers which allow the SSD's to be "trimmed".
As far as I know they still sell the Vertex, just a bit hard to get. If you only intend to use the drive as a single, then I would consider the M225, but do read the Crucial forums first to get a feel for how they answer questions, (or not)!.
By the way, I have one of each, they compare as singles, but I wish I had two Vertex to raid, as the firmware for raid are poles apart, the OCZ version for raid is the modified rev. 1.41.

Kingston V+ 64Gb looks good for the price....read / write looks up there and can be ran in RAID and cleanses deleted data automatically.

Am i missing something with the V+ over the others that make it worse?

Yes, the Intel drives are quite weak in sustained write speeds. But almost all of the workload on an average desktop is reads and small writes, which the Intel drives are really good at so they're very quick overall.

It's rather bizzare but the M225's price has gone up so much now that it's possible to get a first gen 80GB Intel for less. (admittedly that's for an X18-M, which needs an extra adapter to fit a desktop system, but it's still cheaper in total than an M225 and much cheaper in £-per-GB terms.)

A pair of the new Kingston 40GB drives would also be cheaper (and faster) than the Crucial.
