Which 650W PSU

It's massively overpriced for the mediocre unit it is. Reviews are not exactly brilliant with scores of 8-8.8 or Silver. Anything that scores less than a 9 or gold isn't worth looking at to my mind because there is so much choice available now at a better price.

I wouldn't say it was mediocre. Seasonic don't really make mediocre stuff. It is based on a very good platform (Seasonic G). It probably is overpriced (As are most Antec psu's).

I would suggest the XFX XTR but OCUK doesn't stock it.

I guess I must expect more from a psu. The review scores are less than the Seasonic G series (I have a G 750w). I would call scores of 8 medicore and Seasonic has put out poor psu's in the past. Their own M12II EVO Edition series is often complained about on here for being noisey.

Op, there is no way at all to turn the led's off on the Superflower but if you are looking at getting it as I predicted it is on this week only with a discount of £11 making it £74.99.

Is there an easy way to disable the LEDs? I'm guessing opening up the unit voids the warranty?

Nah,although their are custom Cable kits for SF leadex platform, some of them may have connectors without the LED's(not sure tbh).Still no word on when/if OCUK will be getting supply of them tho sadly :/

I thought I had decided on the Superflower for £74.99 but OCUK wanting £9.60 delivery when just about all their competitors offer free delivery is giving me second thoughts now. Do OCUK do free shipping on request? I notice there is some free shipping for some forum members however I am not eligible for that.

You need to meet either of these conditions:-

OcUK Forums members who have 250 or more posts and have been registered for over 90 days

or

OcUK Forums members who have been registered for over 12 months and made at least 100 posts

Even then it will still depend on where you live. I can't get free shipping up here for anything that can't fit in a jiffy bag delivered by Royal Mail or cost's more than £50. This is because they changed the courier to DPD as I used to get free shipping previously. The same has happened with the two other retailers where I used to get free shipping until they changed to DPD.

Would the SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W be ok in the following build?

I5 4690k
MSI Z97-Gaming 3
Gigabyte 970 GTX G1
Phantom 530

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

Yes, more than enough with loads of headroom left over.

Thanks, just got a couple more (Ram & cooler) to decide on
and then I think im almost there.

A bit ot but what are peoples thoughts on anti-static bands?
This is my first build and I'm getting conflicting opinions.

They don't appear to be particularly short from reviews. Taken from JonnyGuru's review of the 750w unit:-

20+4 pin ATX connector 540mm
4+4 pin EPS/ATX12V 650mm
8 pin EPS12V 650mm
6+2 pin PCI-E, 6+2 pin PCI-E 550+130mm

A lot of psu's do have problems with the really tall case's though.

I was looking and found some information on another site that had reviewed the 750w

I check some other ones and they was the same .. I then checked the 1000w and they are a bit longer ..

Is it true that the Superflower PSU has an issue with cable length or is that only a problem for very tall systems?

I have a SF leadex PSU in a mid-tower case. The cables arnt necessarily short, but their they dont leave much room for flexibility when it comes to cable management. However i had no problem hooking all my components up with some tinkering of cables behind the mobo tray.

In a full tower they would be an outright pain however IMO

For mid towers they are fine tho

Great PSU's all round,extremely happy i bought it :)

I posted the cable lengths a few post's up so you could measure your case from where the psu sits to put your mind at ease. I can't see any problem though as your case is 521mm tall and the 4=4 pin 12v ATX cable is 650mm long so plenty of slack for cable routing. If there were to be any problems it would only be with really tall cases such as the Corsair 900D and Silverstone TJ11.
