which 670?

Is looks really that important?

Where is your PC base unit?

How often do you look in the window (if it has one)?

Can you even see the card from where you sit normally?:p
Still...I don't know why Gigabyte is the only one that got UK RMA base...it's like UK is some sort of backwater country...why the hell we need to RMA stuffs to Netherland? UK ain't good enough for MSI or Asus to set up a base here? :p

Well if they're servicing the entire European region from one RMA centre, then UK makes little sense. For the majority of people it would be more expensive to ship to and from our island compared to somewhere on the mainland.

Looks aren't that important. I can't see it normally either :p

My original budget was £250 Max then went up to £300. I know the wind force is only another £20 but where do you stop? :)

Just wondering, when I install the 670 do I need to reinstall drivers or anything? Running the latest nvidia drivers at the minute.

Best to do a full/clean reinstallation of drivers.

No need to uninstall the old drivers. Set your graphics card to "default VGA" before you remove the old one, turn off PC, remove and install new card, boot up, windows should recognise the new card and use the drivers you have installed already, worst case run the install again.

if he was going from ATI to Nvidia then yes, but as the 460 and 670 are in the same driver bundle it should work fine

OK, I've got my 670 in and totally stock my score in 3dmark11 is 9722 graphics score. Is that OK?

Core boost is at 1202mhz and memory boost is at 3042. No added tweaking, that's straight out the box. Max temp after the test was 60c on auto fan profile.

Any tips on over clocking it? I've got the latest version of afterburner.

Now managed a gfx score of 10238 with +83 on the core and +150 on the memory. Anymore than +85 on the core causes my drivers to crash. Will try and push the memory about more tomorrow.

Core boost now gets to 1285mhz and memory 3151mhz. Temps never exceed 55c with the fan on 50%.

Talk to me :D is any of this good?

Overclocks on the 670 series are like a lottery tbh, i got pretty lucky with my windforce, clocks to +130 on core, memory at +770, clock speeds in heaven of 1320mhz, 7586mhz. Heaven stable, but i back both down 10mhz for games and havent had a problem yet.

hardkore

Looks pretty good to me.

If your max boost (run something like Heaven to see what it jumps to) is starting to approach 1300MHz, then I suspect you are starting to reach the limit. If using version 2.2.3 of AB, then you could try adding a little more voltage to the core and seeing if you can push the core clock a bit more. Personally I would not bother with the Auxiliary, or memory voltage tweaking, up to you if you want to try. Never found myself that it makes that much difference.

I suspect the memory will go a little further. Though I would suggest running running something like 3Dmark11 (or Heaven) after each bump in the memory speed, as you will probably reach a point where it starts to have no (or a -ve) effect (IE. your score will not go up, or may even go down a bit). This is because the memory used makes a good job of coping with errors long before it will show any artefacts but this can have the reverse effect and cause it to run slower (bit of a simplistic explanation, GOOGLE if you want more detail on this issue).

And remember, Kepler starts to throttle when temps go above 70C.

Good luck.

That's an insane overclock :O

Yea I'm running 2.2.3 of AB mikeo. What safe jumps in voltages should I use for the core? Just a matter of watching temps?

I'd like a +100 on the core if I could. I noticed my 3dmark score benefits a lot more from core tweaking but I'll try +200 on the memory in the morning :) cheers for the help guys. Love this card!

I found memory oc's to give me some great results in heaven, my core topped out at 130+, but memory kept on going and going till i hit +770, iirc it scored just over 2100 in heaven on the ocuk default settings.

Right, I'm stuck on +85 on the core. Any more and I get a driver crash on the 3rd 3dmark11 test. I've even added +60 mV to the core and can't get it to stay at 90 or beyond :(

Memory however I've got to +650 which is giving me a boost clock of 7,298mhz :D Still going strong at 61c load. Downloading heaven and see what's what.

Re- core clock... that's the way it goes sometimes. What you've got already is pretty good.

Just remember to check that the memory speed bumps are actually making a +ve difference (as per comment in my previous post).

Just wanted to hit the magic 1300 but I'll settle for 1285! Yea the scores are still going up in 3dmark. The last graphics score was 10434. Every +50 on the memory is netting me circa ~30 points.
