ok full 7 version arrived today.
attempting a complete install. dont want my old windows no more. using the 64bit disk. cannot get it to boot from cd. have tried every which way in the BIOS and no good.. the reason i am doing boot from Cd is that the 64bit version wil not open up in my 32bit windows so MS say boot from CD.

aaarrrrrggggg .. pls help...many thanks

"your CPU is an Athlon 64, there for its all 64bit " is this true?

sorry bout multi post.. just sad a desparate to get going.

1, dvd drive not cd
2, bios tweaked and tweaked again to boot to cd
3, boot sequence also tweaked
4, the 32bit dvd also wont boot

ps just because my CPU will run 64bit os does this mean that MB will also do the same.

is not clear from this!.

1, drive whurs into life
2, yes any key pressed (however when i do this it does a dot (.) then i hit any key again and get another . then . then . then .

then it carrys on doing its thing then goes to windows.. probably nothing?!!!

arrrrgggggggggg

thanks
PS. what if i install the 32bit from windows.. am i really gonna miss the 64, or can i then install the 64 over the 32 later..

this is defeatist i know but aaarrrggggg..

Monserrat thats great thanks.

keyboard is wireless with a usb dongle thing. had it for a while now.

problem is cannot find reference to USB keyboard support in any section of BIOS!!

i must be missing something? any ideas please.

again many thanks..

looking for anything USB, keyboard related in BIOS.. nothing.

WINFAST BIOS if that helps..

thanks again lads but maybe am just not destined to have the 7..!!!:(

just plugged in brand new ps2 keyboard.. as soon as plugged in lights come on them off.

It doesnt even work in windows let alone trying to "del" "esc" whilst on boot up.

this is just not my week.

arrrrrrrrrggg

Tried F1 or F2 to get into the BIOS?

Not trying to be patronising, just aware that it doesnt always give time to read what key you have to press with some systems..

def "del" or "esc". doesnt even work in windows..

ouch

You'll be wasting RAM for one but in light of the fact you can't get it to boot, you may not have another option.

1, will installing the 32 give me a nice fresh clean HDD to work on? or is it just a little wash over with a sponge?
2, can i install the 64 over the 32 once the 32 is up and running?

1) I think the setup will ask if you want to repartition, but I'm not sure from an upgrade.
2) Yes but it will mean a complete wipe and start again.

What you think burnsy?

hang on so let me get this right!!

if i install the 32bit in windows i can then install the 64 after (with wipe out) and this 64 can be done in windows ( as i cant do it from boot up)?

will it not give me error that i get now trying to install 64 in windows "cannot install 64 with win32XP.

thanks burnsy again
