Which 7900GT

Should be getting a 7900GT shortly, is it worth paying the extra for the XFX extreme version or shall i just get the ocuk one?

Ive the OCuk 7900GT, clocks with coolbits to 570-800 straight away. Upto which one you pick dude.

My OcUk card is Galaxy and that clocked to about 550/800 gaming stable (before I did the volt mod). It'd go higher for 3dmark, but not for Oblivion.

OCuk ones as far as i know are Galaxy branded, but a card is a 7900GT to me regardless of the branded name. Everycard ive had has always been the cheapest branded version, and offers the same performance as a well branded name. Bit of luck, but there you go

What's the best way to 'validate' your clock speeds? Normal gaming or is there a specific stress test that everyone uses?

If you can game without problems and artifacts and run 3d mark 05 and 06 without issues then its fine.

Get AtiTool - the artifact finder works a treat - leave it running overnight and you'll know whether your card is stable

what sort of 3d mark 05 scores did u get? just curious as i have my 7900 and cpu running at the clocks in my sig and returned a score of 9293 which i thought was low, my motherboard is screwed and ram is only running in single channel so this may affect it i don't know? :confused:

I'd be careful as sometimes ATItool can get stuck erroring and people have come back to find dead cards. I'd recommend keeping an eye on it when its running.

Think my last 06 score was around 5905, which is very good i think, but that was on a new install, and not a lot else was on, typically its around the low 5800`s . Bear in mind these scores aquire a massive amount of overclocking on ram, cpu and the 7900GT , now @1.5 volts

Reading up on things, my ram isnt currently at 1T and settings of 7.3.3.2.5. Running at 1T dont seem to yeild much higher results. I got a good chip that clocks well, and im also, on my main rig still running 4x512 of geil ram. My Premium board wont run the 4, but the deluxe does, weird, but im happy. This was just done and gpu was @ 649 -800. Not too shabby for a single core clocked
