Which 7970, GHZ edition??

So you have one of these cards (VTX) owenades running 1250/6400? Stock cooling?

Yes, for 3600x1920 Portrait Eyefinity. Thinking of a second for CF depending on how expensive the GTX780 ends up (I prefer single card configs).

The card runs at 1250/6400 (1.26v) when playing Crysis 3 and anywhere between stock and these clocks when running other games (Dead Island only requires stock clocks despite my resolution).

The card is running stock cooling with a custom fan profile.

I did test 2x 7970 Ghz edition HIS IceQ x2, they ran nice but the top card was getting 10C more than the bottom one (I think it was because of the design of their cooler, not the best for Crossfire.
I have tried the Gigabyte 7970, the Gigabyte 7970 GHz edition and 2 x Sapphire 7970 oc boost editions and now I find that the HIS 7970 Ice Q2 run cooler, even in crossfire, than all the others. Stock temps are average 26 bottom and 31 top, load temps usually around 38-44 for both cards, there has never been more than 5 degrees between the 2 cards on load, maybe this is something to do with case cooling and fan positioning.

Just been playing around overclocking my cards, I can unlock the voltage settings in afterburner but I cant seems to overclocker past 1125/1575 on the sliders, any ideas? Cheers

Nice one, I can probably get to around 1150/1550 before I need to add voltage for stability, I got to around 1225/1725 on 1.26 voltage and my HIS 7970's started showing artifacts on the Heaven 4 benchmark, but as a rule I run everything on stock for games, its more than enough, even with my 8350 on stock. Temps were hitting around 63 then also, stock clocks the temps are low 40's usually in games depending on ambient temp.

Ok managed to fix that, my best overclock is as follows I was hoping for more in crossfire, what do you guys think.
1175/1600 @ 1.26v

Seems about right for crossfire. Whilst a bit of a time faff perhaps try both cards separately to see what they both clock to individually.

I would never expect to match the clocks I can achieve on my single 7970 if I have a second one only a couple of inches away, especially considering the non blower style cooler design.
