Currently in process of building a new rig. Now stumped on what graphics card to get. Was toss up between 7970 and a 680, but with the recent ati drivers making more sense to get the 7970 (though I realise some will say 7950 best bang for buck). Now question is which 7970?...I hear some are voltage locked, some sound like a jet engine. Ones that keep cropping up are the MSI Lightning, Sapphire Vapor-X Ghz Ed and the Gigabyte GHz one. Opinions please :D

MSI & Sapphire cards tend to be quite loud, the MSI in particular can sound like a jet engine under load, add to that some people have had Sapphire cards sent out to them voltage locked, I'd go for something different, perhaps the ASUS Lightning.

Thread;

I don't think its worth buying the 7970. Since between 7950 and 7970 theres a really small performance difference around 5-8fps. Its similiar to nvidia 670 and 680 5-10fps difference for over 100 pounds more...
7950 its a good overclocker that gigabyte or HIS would do you nicley, Im thinking of buying one of them as well.

7950 choices
