I am looking for a tablet but find the 10" range a bit too big and the 7" ones too small. The Ipad mini retina looks perfect but I'm not a fan of ios, I would prefer Android.

What are the best 8" tablets currently on the market? High resolution screen with sd slot would be nice.

Dell Venue 8 Pro - 8", 9hrs battery, Windows 8 x86(so full windows, will run Steam, iTunes etc), 32 or 64Gb, Micro SD, awesome IPS screen etc, £249. Absolute no brainer.

It's a very good screen. I find it a lot nicer than the Nexus 7 1080p screen tbh...

Maybe you do, but I'm not hearing that a lot, and even if true the Nexus has 2.25x as many pixels. Personally I wouldn't buy a brand new tablet with such a low res screen.

Fair enough. I personally like to try something and then decide. The screen and Digitizer on the Nexus for me were horrid. There is more to a decent screen than just pixel count.

I find the screen on the Venue much more vibrant and maybe it's because it runs windows not android but it seems sharper and more defined.

Just my opinion on having owned both.

It's an excellent clear, vivid screen commented on in pretty much every review (despite it takin a while for a couple to work out how to turn off the battery saving auto dimming). If you just think that "it has moar pixels" is what makes for a good screen you're sadly deluded.
