I think thats an aspect ratio thing, sounds like 16:9 whereas us PC heads are used to 16:10
A single 8800GT would do a good job at that res *depending* on what games you like to play and how much you like to crank the eye candy?
For instance newer games like CRYSIS will really struggle at MAX settings on a Single 8800GT
Two cards would be a bit better, but a lot more expensive and then you need a SLI mobo.

Well 720p = 1366x768 on desktop and 1080p = 1920x1080. Turns out it's 1080p.

ok guys ive made a decision
all day ive been going to press the buy now button on ebay but just couldnt do it,i would be spending in excess of £400 on 2 gt's which is fine but i get the feeling when the 9800 series is released there will be one for around the same price that will wet on 2 gt's at wich point i will probably set myself on fire.i think for the sake of a month or two ill wait and see,and as the little missus has pointed out a number of times i have just spent £180 on a psu

sry to bump an oldish thread but ive caved and will have two gt's arriving on my doorstep tmrw 2 quick question's though will i be able to pop these babys in and all be fine or will i need to reformat?im using vista if that makes a dif,im guessing ill need to reformatalso with sli is it a simple case of popping in the two cards and linking them or is there more to it?.......thanks guys

I don't know if for Sli the procedure is different, but all I did with my single 8800GT was to remove the old driver, then remove old card, insert GT, install GT driver.
Probably in your case you just do the same steps but then insert 2 GT's and link them, and then install the driver.

ah thats good then,i got into the habbit of reformating with any major hardware change but really didnt fancy reformating....thanks
