Which 970?

If I was buying a 970 now, I'd be going all out for the reference model. I prefer cards that exhaust the heat from the case, and that card just looks superb.

Second choice would be the Infinity model, third the MSI.
 
Its either the EVGA at £275 or the Galax at £290 for me. The only thing putting me off getting the Galax is the 2 year warranty. I would get the G1 in a heartbeat, but it has no chance fitting in my case.

Will sleep on it and press the fire button tomorrow morning.

Evga looks a bit cheap as its all plastic but it does have 0% fan speed until 60c and 5 year warranty over the 2. I got massive coilwhine on the Evga i had though so it went back and i got the G1 which is massive in comparison!

Id of picked the Galax as it looks really nice and has a backplate but 2 years warranty is crap and thats when faults/problems mostly occur going by my past cards.

Depends if youre happy spending 300 quid on 2 years warranty but better looks over 5 year warranty but a cheap looking card?

We will only offer 3yr warranty if the supplier agrees to give us 3yr warranty. Galax were requested last year and every week since to consider three year term. We remind them on it weekly, I am sure they will give in more so now as they are winning real market share, Galax is now our no.1 selling 970 brand.

Keep it up! They make lovely looking cards and the coilwhine thing will win many people over!
 
In the same boat looking at 970, the Galax looks nice, but at the price is it worth the extra £20 or so to get the OCUK reference version?
 
The Galax infinity is designed to be the best 970 on the market. Especially in single GPU systems. Myself and Gibbo had much input into this and are confident this is fact.
 
I have the exoc black one and can vouch that although one fan spins at idle it's as good as silent. I don't seem to have an out the box overclock, though. Not sure if I should :/

*the low rpm one fan spin seems like a good compromise, keeps a bit of air flowing stops heat building up. Handy in my sff.

I would have liked the Galax card, however it would not fit height wise into my case which is a shame, so plumped for the OCUK as looking at the benchmarks there is not a great deal of differnece between a ref 970 and the Galax one from what I can see.
