Hi All,

Planning to grab a 980ti after my r290x has gone to the big PCIe slot in the sky.

I'm probably going Evga (for after-sales and step up), but budget is a consideration.

If additional overclocking is unlikely, is it still worth paying extra for something like the Classified over one of the (slightly) cheaper cards like the Superclocked or Superclocked+? I can probably stretch to the Classified if it's really worth it, but I don't want to waste the dosh if not.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers,

DF

Only the kingp1n cards from EVGA are binned now.

The Superclocked+ comes with a backplate, the normal Superclocked does not.

Pascal should be released in a few days time at GTC. I would consider waiting until then and grab the 1080.

On the Ti side I would just get a EVGA SC. it will overclock well anyway. Both my SC do 1500mhz.

Opinions seem to vary as to when we'll know anything about Pascal. I'll hold off if I can, but right now I basically don't have a gaming PC.

Failing that, is the backplate on the SC+ worth the extra £20?

More for just the overall looks of the card, as they do look good with the backplate on. It might drop overall card temps by a couple of degrees aswell.

And yes there is little info. Even if it will be released. What cards etc. But it's only a few days away. Could be worth it to find out.

However the Ti is still a very powerful card and will serve you well.

TBH I feel you about not having a gaming PC while you wait but if it was me,I would hold out for a week to see if there is any news and if there is maybe pick up a cheap 970 on the MM to tide me over

Yeah - didn't realise GTC was so soon, tbh. I'll probably hold off until then.

And then order a 980ti. :p

Ha:)

Yeah, I see that this GTC is next week, and I ordered a second 980ti the other day for SLI.
Part of me would like to be proven wrong, but I'd put money on this first new round of pascal cards being thoroughly underwhelming. Just a feeling.

Just carrot dangling and hype to boost sales on all new cards.

GPU's are the biggest overcharge in parts, hardly anything to them.
