Which alarm?

Not made by Toad. Scorpion (who actually own and manufacture Toad) don't supply remote start units.
The ones listed as "Toad" units are normally cheap crap chinese rubbish.
Not designed for manual cars although there is a way to fit it... but it's not 100% safe
They work on timed crank which means it could continue to crank after your car has started. Not great for your starter.

There are other reasons as well but they are security related so it's best not to go too deep into them on a public forum.
Lets just say that I wouldn't put one anywhere near my car.

just an update

i emailed the guy selling the toad ai606 on auction site for £205 fitted, told him i have a 172 etc and he insisted that the toad could not be fitted to it due the alarm running off the ecu...??? he suggested a Sigma Addon alarm for £249.99!

Then i emailed Barry (Thanks bledd. for the info) and it looks like he knew a lot about the 172 and some of them being imports that dont have any alarms etc, offered me a Toad install for £209.99 plus free shock sensor. im just waiting for him to give me the A-OK for a Saturday install. Top man!

I had an Ai606 on my old fiesta, installed by Barry from Safe'n'Sound.

Great alarm, couldn't fault it at all! Barry was a sound guy too (no pun intended) and have recommended him to a few mates from uni who also now had Ai606's installed by him.

had Barry around this AM to fit the ai606 in my car

what a great guy, great laugh and work is spot on.

well recommended!

I've been ironing out a few issues since installing my Ai606 and now that it's fully working I'm seriously impressed for the money.

Very customisable and loads of features. Definitely one I'd recommend.
