I'm looking to upgrade from a Saphire 9600pro 256mb to another AGP card to keep me going till AM2
3 Cards i've narrowed it down to are
Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GTO 256MB £130 in this week only
**B Grade** Asus ATI Radeon AX800 Pro/TD 256MB £105
and from a "friend"
Connect3d X850 Pro 256MB £150

Bottom line is, which would be the best card, i could overclock using atitool and have good air flow through my case for cooling.

I did consider Nvidia either their 6600GT or the 6800GS but i'm not really a fan of Nvidia stuff.

I would have had an X850XT but i missed my chance when they were at £140 and am not spending £200 on a card i'll only be using for about 6-9 months.

well i am told they all are around the same in terms of performance.. id recomend you go for the 7800GS if you want the best performance, but if your just buying to keep you going for a few months then the X800GTO sounds good to me :)

the x850pro looks the best option to be honest if you aint wanting to spend anymore than that, i guess your right in that case cos AGP is dead

Hi there

Offer your m8 £100 for his X850 Pro first of all. ;)

Secondly the all perform very similar, as the X850 Pro and GTO both have 12 pipelines.

differences

so what's the difference between the X800Pro and the X800GTO? would the Asus one perhaps be more overclockable? cos if there's not really any difference between the two then i'd prefer to save £25 and get the bgrade Asus card.

Oh and Gibbo, i'm VTEC powered too

Yep, the X850Pro is about the same speed as the X800Pro and both are a little faster than the X800GTO. It's only the X800GTO2 on PCI-E that can be modded

Out of those I'd go for the X800Pro - it's a great price at the moment. IMHO the X850Pro is overpriced

The X800GTO and X800GTO2 offer the same performance at stock - it's just that the X800GTO2 traditionally used the X850 core so could be modded and overclocked to an X850XT with ease. The success rate with the later cards isn't as good
