Looking to upgrade my yamaha rx 673 as it is not passing the 4K signal :(
I am liking the pioneer atm,Don`t want to spend too much over £400
opinions please:)

No real reason my last 2 amps were/are Yamaha(A1 lasted me 13 years and my current RX673 is only being upgraded replaced because i just got a new 4k tv and it won`t pass-through)
Will take a look at the Denon thanks :)

The Denon 2200/2300/2400 have won best AVR under 500 the last 3 years for a reason. This year you can throw the Sony 1080 in the mix, but I'd not consider any of your choices.
Yeah looking like the Denon is the one to go for
Hope it is as reliable as the Yamaha`s i have had previously :)

The Sony is a bit more than i want to spend tbh
I remember splashing £1600 on my A1 back in the day tooooo much even though i thought it was great at the time

Sorry for the late reply guys:o
Cannot`t get the 673 to bypass the 4k signal it always defaults it to 1920X1080
673 is not HDCP 2.2 i think:(

I `think` the issue is 1.4hdcp on the 673?and tv is 2.2 hdcp

How did you find the 673 after the A1?
Still using my old AX1 here but really looking to update to something with hdmi

The 673 has a lot lesspower(oomph):D than the A1 it replaced but has more up to date connections like hdmi and DTS HD etc, also the A1 was getting on in life i had issues in the end with the digital card inside and the display.Cost me £100 to have the display resoldered and the card looked at,in the end it did not last and audio kept dropping out

Nice:)
Is there any point in using banana plugs?
I am using just the posts and screw the cables down.have done for years

Thanks for the info
I generally only remove cables when changing amps, although it would be easier to attach the cables as I have amps in a large cupbord with poor acces to the rear

Fisual plugs would do fine for your planned set up imo
Cheers.I have actually ordered
Nakamichi Banana Plugs x16 HiFi High Quality Gold plated Speaker Plugs
Yesterday afternoon.Hope they are alright, they looked good and well made

it'll be fine. Just don't shove it in a tight space with little to no air flow as they can run a little hot.
No S*** Sherlock:eek:
Toasty indeed.Just got my banana plugs today and have set it all up
Been `playing` with various settings for an hour or so and it is very hot
Think i will rig some sort of fan over the amp, dread to think how hot it would get in the cupboard with the doors closed:eek:

There is about a foot above 4 inches behind and about 6 inches eiter side
my A1 had a fan that I never got to work as it was always cool.and the yamaha was cool too

Yeah i know what you mean,my previous Yamaha's barely got warm
Measured this Denon last night and after about 3 hours the temps were 40oC

Me again
Bought a `4K switch` to take feeds from my htpc,bd player, freesat box to the new amp
Was only a cheapy and picture keeps dropping out(seems to be more often with high quality videos)
Direct cable from pc to amp,All fine
so i reckon cheap switch is at fault
Anyone recommend a 4k switch that they know works please:)
