Which B&W speakers?

Go with an amp first, you'll only do damage to your new speakers if you don't. By the sounds of it it's not at its best anyway...

As for the DM602s, my brother has a pair and I like them a lot. Personally I have some Monitor Audio S6s. Don't do what people have suggested here and discount them because 'they've won awards'.

Last and no means least, make sure you demo them. I can't remember the names of all the speakers I tried before buying mine (or when my brother was demoing before his purchase).

Right, I've found a place in Coventry called Superfi that looks pretty decent so am going along there this weekend to test some stuff out. Looking mainly at amps but knowing me I'll let them blagme into a full system .

personally for the money i'd go for the tdl kv1's, I'm very happy with them, only bookshelf but very nice sound with my nad c325 amp....

Those shops are just box shifters, so just expect biased advice along the lines of "What he have in stock is brilliant, you'll want to buy that, what we don't have in stock is rubbish" The exact line one gave me was "Everything we stock is brilliant"

I see... Can anyone recommend a decent hifi shop in the Midlands area then? I don't want to go half way across the country really, but Cov, Brum etc are ok for me coming from Stratford.

I have some B&W 602s2 Speakers and i do like them but i am going to replace them with some Quad 21L's.

I want smaller speakers (The Quads are floor standers but take up less room than mine on stands!) and a diff finish due to new furniture and decoration !!! For the money the B&Ws are very nice but you do need to like their sound. I love the quads so the B&Ws will be sold - have been great speakers and well worth a listen.

Got my new cable today and I can notice quite a big difference.

It's a QED Qunex J2P (doesn't mean anything to me but it looks nice) and there's a lot less noise in the background in the songs I've tested so far, and the bass sounds a lot fuller.

Gonna road test it some more and see how it goes, hopefully will be able to put off the amp upgrade for a bit as I've just been landed with a hefty council tax bill .
