Which benchmark?

Hi all,

I want to bench my gpu before and after going SLI.

I am interested in minimum and maximum FPS mainly.

I have 3D mark vantage but don't know if this can do it?

New card arrived today and I have already flashed my mobo from P6T SE to P6T to enable SLI so I'm good to go :

Cheers,

G

Does BF3 have one?

Also stupid question....when I have both cards in which one do I plug my monitor into? Or does it not matter?

Also there looks to be two places I could plug the SLI bridge into... I'm guessing that's for if I have more than 2 cards (which I don't) I was going to plug it onto the one closest to the end of the GPU... Is that correct?

Sorry for the questions, I'm an SLI virgin.

Cheers,

G

I cant see it being too much more demanding than bf3 tbh. With it, i could run on ultra with a pair of gtx 470's, but msaa was a no no as they were only 1.2gb cards. Iirc, your on 2.5gb 570's Guru. A single wf 670 coped grand for me in bf3, on the max settings @1920x1200, but decided to slap in a second as i got it cheap. That and adding a 3770k should see me set right for bf4.

I did read on another forum that the Frostbite engine was using less than 20% of its full potential with BF3. Not sure on the authenticity of that claim but if true, I do know that it can bring all of our systems to a crawl.

Interesting, no chance you remember which forum mate? Bf3 is indeed a pretty demanding game gpu wise, but thankfully even with lower settings it still looks good. Cpu wise, ive found it to be a bit less intensive than the previous bfbc2. That game could expose an unstable cpu oc quicker than any stressing program.

This wasn't the site but it does say what I read (30% not 20%), so good enough :)

Also whilst I was looking, this site is claiming BF4 is on a completely new Frostbite Engine.... First I have heard of it.

Cheers for the links, very interested in the higher levels of destruction rumoured to be included. Something that was really missing in bf3. Bc2's destruction was a fantastic part of the game. Cant wait till we see some good trailers/preview vids showing online play. Single player bf3, dont think i played it for any more than 5 mins.:D

No probs :)

I completed the single player and quite enjoyed it. BF3 was my first foray into online shooters and loved it. My K/D ratio isn't too bad for an old man either :D

I hear a few old hands say they much preferred BFBC2 because of things like destruction, so hopefully it will please those fans as well.

My card is indeed the 2.5gb version. It runs BF3 with every setting maxed out completely at 1080p but I too had heard that BF4 will use more than twice as much of the possibilities of the frostbite engine so I had assumed I would probably need twice the GPU power to maintain decent frame rates.

My CPU never goes above 20% on BF3 but on Ultra my GPU can often be at full load. Will be interesting to see how two of these cards fare. Especially when I put them under water.

Ok I figured it out in the end... and the scores are:

I bet your happy with that. If you use these settings:

Mode = 1920*1080 8*AA Fullscreen
Preset = Custom
Quality = Ultra
Tessellation = Extreme

You can see how your set up compares to others in the Heaven 4 benchmark thread. HERE

That's more taxing on the GPU:
