Which bluetooth car audio adapter?

So I'm planning on fitting the Jaaaaag with a bluetooth adapter for audio (can use the built-in bluetooth for calls). Unfortunately I've got to fit an expensive module just to get an Aux-in port but such is life.

So I'll be left with a simple RCA/3.5mm audio in socket and the obvious thing to do to avoid needing to plug and unplug my phone is to get a bluetooth adapter, something like this which is unfortunately not readily available in the UK except via eBay, which connects to the phone automatically.

So what are people using for this/recommending?
I don't want to go down a new headunit route.

I'm looking at something similar for the FN2 (with or without hands free ability but definitely with bluetooth streaming), do they not have the denison type usb in's that use the cd changer input? They usually have a bluetooth add on available too.

They do and they don't. There's a very informative page on my era of Jag audio here but essentially most of the dension stuff is for the MOST fibre-optic network whereas the S-type uses the older D2B fibre-optic network.
They have exactly the right thing here but unfortunately this doesn't work with the D2B network, and the one that does doesn't have bluetooth

In fact, assuming there isn't a direct headunit to bluetooth solution like the Dension Gateway 500S BT above, is there something that would convert ipod signals into bluetooth? Clearly the drawback with aux-in is I can't use the radio controls to skip tracks etc whereas the redeeming feature of iStuff is that the cable does allow that. So something that could interpret the skip track command via the iStuff cable and use it to control my phone via bluetooth would be ideal..

He's already got the aux-input and just needs a bluetooth adaptor to avoid plugging and unplugging.

I'd like an answer to this question too. I've bought several modules in the past from the bay that do what you want but none of them automatically re-connect to my phone. All of them have a battery inside and so sit there, still turned on once the ignition is off.

don't know if it'll work with your headunit(s) but the parrot mki9000 isn't a bad option to get bluetooth (hands free & audio), ipod, line in and USB in.

It basically sits between your headunit and speakers, cutting off the headunit when playing and driving the speakers directly.

Sorry didn't see this, teach me for not refreshing the page

I've got the premium sound system (320W Alpine) driven by an amplifier and if I used something like this I'd be wasting the system, plus normally these things only do about 35W/channel on max 4 channels which my subwoofer would disagree with!

I've found this which seems to do the job with transmitting skip requests but no mention on whether it connects automatically :(
I reckon that sort of thing will be the way forward though.

I have 3 different dock BT receivers like that. 2 of them don't work at all (they connect but produce no sound), the other one does what it says but will not auto re-connect.

Hmm that's disappointing. Which ones have you tried? Autoconnect is going to be a sticking point with these I suspect since these are essentially designed for iPod docks at home where you probably don't want it autoconnecting so it's a hard feature to find.

Hmmm another consideration is that it looks like some of them only work with ipod docks with the newer charging requirements (iphone 4) as otherwise they don't get power. I rather doubt the ipod cable that comes with the Jag kit will be iphone 4 compatible..
