Bought this for my bedroom after my much loved Sony CMT-SD1 passed away after 12 years of use :( Loved the system and probably the best looking micro system I have ever laid my eyes on.

I've not got the DM37 and am currently using the original Sony Speakers from the CMT-SD1 system which are 20W. They are good speakers but I think I might aswell change them as im sure speakers have moved on as these are 12yrs old.

Having looked through, i've narrowed it down to the following:

B&W 686
Quad 9L2
Tannoy MERCURY F1 CUSTOM

What do you guys wreckon?

care to elaborate?

Well I have these front 2x B&W 683 floor standers, rear 2x B&W 684 floor standers, B&W HTM61 center speaker and I think they're lush at that price! But tbh what ever mine or anyone else's opinion is, its down to personal preference so book yourself a demo.

The Wharfedale 10.0/10.1's have had rave reviews, and they're light on the wallet too. I must say, connected to a similar Onkyo system they certainly punched above their weight quite well.

Audition each of the speakers you've mentioned and see which ones sound best to you. Make sure you have a wide variety of music to test them out with!

Thanks for the suggestions. I think im going to send the unit back or maybe put it in the kitchen. As soon as I turn on the bass, I get HISS!!! No hiss in "Direct" mode but to me that sounds flat. My Sony, that I bought in 1998 which replaced this was way better than this! Disappointed by Denon!

686 are actually surprisingly nice for small speakers, eventhough i only use em for surround rears and they are quite good. i did test them on their own 2ch for music and they did job well. they have rear flowport so make sure you dont stick em against a wall
