So I've been drinking the volvic sugar-free strawberry flavoured water since I started eating better around 2 months ago, which costs around 95p per 1.5 litres. I do enjoy it although I'm not a very keen water fan and used to have brita filtered tap water, which was ok.

But last week I found a non branded tesco 2litre water for 24p (it says Clearview still water on the label) which tatstes very good indeed and its frickin cheap = win.

However what do you guys think about bottled water. Is paying for bottled water a good idea if it is cheap? Can anyone confirm this 24p water is good water? I tried to find nutritional info for it and can't find much, it seems legit though.

Thoughts on bottled water commence.....

Do people in London generally not drink tap water then? Genuine question, not being sarcastic, I know water taste varies widely over the U.K - I loved the water back in Bucks but not such a fan of South Coast water :D

Bottled water is the biggest waste of money ever. We live in a country where tap water is perfectly drinkable - paying for expensive bottled water is pointless.

If you don't like the taste of the tap water, why not just use the Britta filter?

I personally think the tap water tastes ok, however I wouldn't drink it unless it was at least brita filtered.

However searching this forum on tap water brings up quite a few pages of people that wouldn't touch tap water with a barge pole. Call me paranoid but if I'm going to be drinking circa 2 litres of water a day, I want to know it's good :)

Hence, hopefully someone can confirm if this cheap water I mentioned is good :)

(that's just my opinion)

Unless it explicity states 'spring water' on the label, the water has most likely simply come from the mains.

Bottled water is an enormous con. In most cases, tap water is actually cleaner as it goes through a much more rigorous filtration process.

Thanks reflux, I don't have the bottle in front of me atm but I think it just says 'still water'. Does this mean I am being massively conned and should just drink the tap water?

Volvic water for me none of this flavor stuff, Ill drink tap water but only if i dont have any volvic in, and i drink the volvic because to me it does taste better than tap water.

Hmmm, yeah, mineral water or spring water....otherwise it's come out of the tap and you're being overcharged by about 100x what it's worth. Whilst I don't really subscribe to the stuff that comes out of the ground, at least you know they had to dig a well and get some pumps in there.

I hardly drink any bottled water - as the tap water up here is nicer than any bottled stuff imo. But Volvic is the most disgusting bottled water I've ever tasted, I really can't stand the stuff.

I cannot stand the tap water we have down here in the south of England. The fact that it forms a skin on top if left for more than a few minutes makes me puke. I drink about 2-3l of bottled water a day and don't mind paying extra for something which doesn't make me gag.

When I'm back home in Ireland I drink from the tap though. The water over there is better than any bottled water.

It's the layer of crud that it leaves on glasses after a single use that annoys me. Still, it's just about palatable, and I definitely wouldn't pay for bottled.

Well the general consensus on this issue is to just stick to tap water so in that case I'm off to order some new brita filters.

Thanks for all the input chaps :)

 skin forming? Whats going on down south then?

In the north west its generally nice. Never noticed skin forming!

I'd only get bottled water if I was out and about, most of the time I get it from the tap. It's not bad, but it's not great, however perfectly fine to drink.

Luckily I have a water cooler right outside my office at work so a nice cold cup of the sperrin mountains is never far away
