ive had a few replys on another post i did about building a pc for my gf. ive decided that i want a AM3 motherboard with ddr3 memory because thats what ive got in my pc and when i upgrade mine in the future i could put some parts from mine into it. with shopping around ive come up with this:

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Licence and media - 1 PC - OEM - DVD - 64-bit - English £71.76

Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H 880G Socket AM3 8 Channel Audio mATX Motherboard £58.99

AMD Athlon II X4 630 Socket AM3 2.8GHz 2MB L2 Cache Retail Boxed Processor £66.85

Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM Caviar Blue £27.99

Arctic Power 500W PSU With PCI-E 2x SATA, 20+4 ATX12V 8pin +12V Connectors - Retail Boxed £29.99

Casecom Black Mid Tower Case £12.69

and whatever memory for around £30 -£40
Total £268.27

or i could change the mb to:

Asus M4A78LT-M LE, AMD 760G, S AM3, DDR3 1800(OC), SATA 3Gb/s, SATA RAID, MicroATX, Onboard Graphics £43.45

and the processor to

AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition, Callisto, Dual Core, S AM3, 3.2GHz, 7MB Total Cache, 80W, Retail £66.45

and saving £16 to put somewhere else

or to this processor

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.00GHz Socket AM3 2MB L2 Cache Retail Boxed Processor £44

what do u think i should do? also are all the components compatible?

In my opinion it might be better to go for the 760g board and go for the phenom x2 rather than the athlon. The athlon 630 might be a quad but it lacks the cache of the phenom and has a lower clock speed.

Not familiar with that "Arctic Power" power supply either. Probably better going for a more reputable branded one as cheap power supplies are not worth the risk in my opinion. Might be better stretching to the Corsair 430w for 37.98 as they are a more reputable and respected:

Other than that, I think it should all be compatible
