Which Cable

Hi brought an external harddrive and it has usb 2.0 and network connections
My motherboard has two 1gig network connections on it.
Is it best to use the network connection over the usb and if so is it a standard network cable or is it a fully wired one

just a 320 gig ide drive in an external case but the case has lan or usb

I'd use LAN then, it is normally capable of higher sustained transfer rates than USB. The caddy itself might not support gigabit ethernet but 100mb ethernet should still be faster than USB overall.

but it it a standard network cable or a fully wired one this is the question before i go buy the wrong one.
