Which car for £3k ?

Hello guys, I'll keep it short and sweet.

Looking for a new car with a budget of £3k.

Been mostly looking at 02-05 BMW 318s and 320s
I do about 30-35 miles a day. Preferably 35mpg at the least, leather seats, air con, rwd, manual.

Any reasons to keep away from the 318s or 320s?

As I'm 20, I'm putting it at a budget of 3k so I've got 1k left for insurance and £750 for general repairs/maintenance.

Any other suggestions/comments appreciated. Please no hatches or mondeos though

Get a compact. Unwanted and the prices reflect this. You might even be able to get a decent 325ti.

I quite like them. But then I do have a Z3 Coupe

But on a serious note, it's still an E46 with a proper engine, but a lot cheaper than the equivalent i or Ci.

But he won't get near his requirement of 35mpg at least.

Doable with a 318i IMO, my 325 is noticeably more of a drinker than my previous 318, the touring is heavier than the compact though (mine was a saloon), offset by looking nice!

If he has uncontrollable vomit issues he should see his GP as a matter of urgency.
