From what I understand there's little difference between the GT and the GTS until you start wanting to pull high resolutions such as 24" + monitors which is where the GTS will pull ahead, so it kind of depends on what you want to use the card to power in terms of display equipment. The pre-overclocked GT looks nice but depends on the cost, any half decent standard clocked GT should pull 700 / 2000.

The GTS even helps on 20/22" monitors. I know because I have used both cards.

Only using a 19" monitor so i dont need a huge resolution.

Personally I don't think you'll see any benefit from spending the extra on a GTS. I've got a 22" widescreen and going from the benchmarks I've seen and comments on these and other forums I decided to go with a GT rather than a GTS.

hmm.. ok ill probably go for a GT, but the question is which one?

1GB with lower clocks or 512MB with higher clocks? :D

Just get the 512MB. Reviews have showed the 1GB does not offer much - and you would be better off with a GTS in that case anyway....

Not when the GTS was 200,

Now at 164, 30 quid more than the GT the GTS is the best value card on the market.

But why spend the extra £30 if it's not going to acheive anything? The GTS has no performance gains over the GT on a 19" monitor.

For the OP there is no way that you want the 1Gb version over the 512. If you've got money to waste then get the most expensive card you can afford, it will offer you a certain amount of futureproofing, but for your current requirements anything over a 8800GT is a waste of money, but it's your cash.
