Or this.

Originally I was set on the 275 as it looks to be much better value for money. But then I read Asus's spiel about how their new GTX 285 has much better performance than prior versions? What's that all about then? Is there some sort of re-release of the GTX 285 I don't know about? How does it compare to the GTX 275? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as my plan is to buy within the next hour or so.

Neither. Get a BFG GeForce GTX 275, whichever flavour you prefer.

I've read that the Gigabyte card has better transistors and parts on the mainboard. Apparently they are using Japanese capacitors or some malarkey different to other GTX 275's. On top of that, with the week special it's £5 cheaper than the BFG.

There's been mutterings on the forums that the Gigabytes aren't all they are cracked up to be. The BFG's have a 10 year warranty! Thats worth the extra fiver imo.

Cool. So now it's a case of Sapphire Vapor-X 4890 vs BFG GTX 275 OC or the Asus (new and improved) GTX 285. Decisions decisions!

Find a nice 4890 and overclock it, that way you'll save dough and get equal or better performance!

The review of the Asus TOP 4890 (pre massively OC'd) have it still losing to the GTX 275 in most cases. I'm thinking of just settling for a GTX 275. That way I don't lose PhysX either.

+1, these are overpriced, how about this theyre in stock now and on offer..

Even the new Super ML 285 from Asus at £220? Also, I'm not sure about going with an ATI at the mo. Those PhysX effects in Batman AA really swayed me. Who knows what other games might incorporate that level of PhysX differences? Before I saw those Batman PhysX differences though, you couldn't have swayed me from a 4890.

ATI cards have better support for Havok, which is used in far more games at the minute than PhysX. Since nVidia practically have to beg game developers to put it in i don't think it should be a selling point, considering how few games actually support it.

But as far as I can tell, when Havok is used, between ATI and Nvidia cards there's no actual visible difference. Just a performance difference. Wheras with PhysX, there's visible differences.

Of course there's a difference, because both sets will work with Havok, whereas only NVidia support PhysX. The point superewza was trying to make was that the actual adoption of PhysX has been so slim that it might as well not be a factor in deciding whether to buy an NVidia card or not. Tbh i would agree, unless you sit playing UE3 games all day :).
Frankly, considering the number of games that use it, ATI's performance in Havok is a much bigger selling point at the moment, until the adoption of PhysX is great enough to make people consider it as a greater factor.

All that being said, go for the BFG 275 :D

Just trying to decide between the GTX 275 (BFG OC) and 285 (Asus Super ML version) now. Hmm....Decisions decisions.

I game at 1920 x 1200 if that makes a difference.
