Which Card?

Hey there

So I am thinking of upgrading my graphics card in a month or so, but which card should I go for out of the 8800GT, 9600GT or a HD3870? If I do upgrade it will be from a HD3850 256MB (PCI-E) and the PC is used for mainly gaming. Anyone have any opinions on which I should go with if I choose to upgrade?

nvidia and ati are both releasing new cards next month. as you're not upgrading until then, i'd wait and see which offers the best bang for buck.

I guess so, but I was thinking, with those new cards coming out the old ones should go down in price.

well 8800gt is the best of those 3. but given the choice i'd take the 3870 because i prefer ati drivers...

If you like overclocking the 3870 is supposed to overclock a lot if you tinker with it.

The 3850 does 1GHz+ with vmod and the 3870 is colocked higher than that at stock...

no real point. the 3870 is around 20% better than the 3850 (i'm not too sure about that figure) but that can be overcome with high clocks

and the 8800GT is about 20% better than the 3870...

Save your cash, and wait for the new cards - the current cards won't drop too much in price i don't think
