Which case to go to from an Eclipse 62?

Well, i'm hankering after a new case. My eclipse has served me well for 3 years but i need something a little bit bigger for my drives, and something a little bit quieter as well (the more anti vibration measures the better!).

I'd like it to retain the style and ease of use that makes the eclipse so great. And i'd like it to be black. Also needs to be able to accommodate tall heatsinks and have potential for water cooling etc.

I was considering one of the lian li towers but i'm not sure. How quiet are they? What about silverstone?

Thanks!

Moving from an Eclipse to a Custom modded watercooled Lian Li A71. Should be a nice difference, will get a review up on it when I get it :D

The lian Li a70 are not quiet see highlanders lian li a70 opinions I think he got a coolermaster cosmos in the end.
I'd go for a Lian li v2000 silverstone tj09 tj10 or tj07.SIlverstone is probably the only case I would get rid of my eclipse for.

I've left the Akasa Eclipse on a few occasions and always have gone back to them... hard case to replace.

Echo that. Battle damaged P180 is now relegated to Windows Home Server duties and the Eclipse is fully Paxmated and rubber grommetted up.

All I need now is a decent front panel solution with heaphone socket and I'm laughing.

To the OP: seriously, very hard case to move away from.

did that make a big difference to vibration reduction and the like? What's paxamt then?

Better than before, but I can still hear the main Raptor clattering away. I'd likely be able to do a better job with different rubber grommets (thinner and stuck to the drives before the screws are put in), or by mounting some of the HDs in the optical bays, but it's a good enough solution for now.

Paxmate

Does a pretty decent job of blocking some of the noise coming from the case at certain frequencies (mainly the fan on my Arctic Cooler so far).

Long term, I reckon optical bay mounting's the way to go, as I'll be ripping out two of the four drives to go in the home server, which means the other two can easily go up there.

YMMV and all that, but after it took me 2 hours to get a tidy build in the P180 as opposed to 35 minutes or so with the Akasa, I'd personally recommend sticking with it. Others may disagree, but it's all personal opinion really!
