which certification after MCDST and A+?

If you like networks then do Cisco, if you like server/windows then do an MCITP in either desktop or server technologies.

Don't do an MCSE, personally I'd spend my time and money on the 2008 based certs rather than still plug away at 2003.

Hands on experience counts for a lot more than papers with holograms. No good having qualifications if you think the real world is like a text book

good place to start, show initiative and you'll climb the ladder very quick. When I started I always questioned "why are you doing that? Do this instead and it will take you half the time"

1st line to Systems engineer in less than 3 years

CCNA

There's no money in MCSE, trust me. MCSEs now are used as support monkeys.

No where near true by a long shot - if you actually look into it there's not that many MCSE / MCITP: EA's out there (<30,000 Word Wide last time I looked) and every job > 2nd line is MCSE required. I'd agree CCNA may be a better route or VCP but it depends what interests you in IT.

I've yet to see a team of MCSE's who are doing support desk work - the only MCSE's I've ever seen, including myself, are doing 3rd / 4th line support.

Not true, there are several people I know who are MCSE and are working in 1st line.

If you are MCSE, it's doesn't mean jack unless you can think outside the box

Meh I didn't have a cert to my name when I got this job, still don't really have any in the vendor techy type areas :)
