I'm looking at buying the Mrs a very cheap second-hand AGP graphics card to inject some life into her aging PC (she currently has a 32Mb Matrox something-MX).

My two choices are: Abit Radeon 128Mb or Hercules 3D Prophet 64Mb.

Instinct tells me that the Prophet is 'better' because it has a GPU fan, whereas the Abit just has a heatsink.

Your opinion? :)

Nowt wrong with having a heatsink instead of a fan - my nvidia 6800 is silent as it's fanless :) Personally, I'd go fanless (with a card designed to be fanless) wherever possible.

Hercules 3D Prophet 64Mb is probably a Kyro2 card, which although was ok at the time, is crap nowadays, the ATI card is probably a 8500/9200 maybe, which would be better but is still rubbish. Chances are neither will be much better than what is already in there.
