Heres what I need from a CMS:

Calendar of Events
Member Contact List
All Members can post content

Any recommendations? I was looking at Mambo, but I dont like that there is a different interface for adding content than there is for viewing the content

Mamboserver.com - used lots of others before it, settled on this for my CMS of choice :)

What i dont like, is the separate login for posting content

With Mambo, and I guess Joomla too, youhave the login for the site but then have to login again to post content

Learn to write one yourself - it's not as hard as it may seem..!

Bad idea... Free open source solutions are much better and much more secure... making your own CMS is reinventing the wheel.

Oh I also recommend Drupal.

The problem i find with the CMS's ive looked at, is they don't seem to be very easily configurable/skinable to a level where you can't tell that its just a skinned CMS (if you know what i mean). They all seem to have the same look (i.e. 2/3 column layout with title/menu area above).

What i'm after is a very easily skinned and configured CMS that can be made to look like a professional website easily. That is the main criteria i'm looking for and i'm prepared to even just work with a much more basic CMS (rather than the very over developed CMS's out there with lots of uneeded modules like polls/forums/etc).

But i can't find it? and considering there are 100's its like finding a needle in a hay stack.

But it's fun...!

It depends what you want in life, if you're happy to use something and not know why or how it works then cool... you'll have an easier life!

Seditio is great for this, with so many skins and it being so easy to recreate your own.

For example, here is the standard seditio look: www.neocrome.net
Here is a clan site: www.h2hclan.co.uk/index.php (looks similar)
Then here is a site I working on at the moment: www.tooswift.com/newtestsites/faelsafe.co.uk

Ignoring the menu options down the left on the faelsafe site, I think you have to agree at first glance you wouldnt recognise it as a standard open source CMS driven site?

Might take a look at that the_kid

What About the login options I stated?

Also do you work for LogMeIn?

Yup seditio is sweet - i got kid started on it :)

You only have to login once - can set it up more secure if you would like a seperate user and pass for the admin pannel.

Fully and easily skinnable

- also kid doesnt work for logmein - he just uses it a lot and likes it

One login in to Seditio suits all, posting new "news" content is a little annoying, but there are plugins available that speed the process up.

Install it and have a play is the best way.

and no I dont work for logmein, but do get sick of people asking which is the best remote admin tool :p

cant be bothered re-typing and taking screen shots so heres a quote from a post i made on the neocrome forums

I have tried to keep the same main menu system on all skins to keep it user friendly ( menu system from t3-design's Blaster 07 Skin )

All copyright has been kept in place - originaly designer & sed link

The site is still in development
what do you think ?

Standard Skin - Based on Blaster07 Skin by t3-design
This is The default skin
Needs work on the header but i like this skin as a defaul, as it is clean and clear

At Work Skin- Based on template designed by Tomasz Michalski.
Becasue some of our users view the site whilst at work ( whilst they should be working ) and do not wish to see peoples signatures/avatars large images ect..
needs a little tweak header changed to something less inconspicuous

BF2 Skin - Based on Skin by t3-design
Battlefield 2 Skin - Pretty much happy with this one.

BF2142 Skin - Based on Colosus Skin by t3-design
Battlefield 2142 Skin - Pretty much happy with this one.

H2H Dark Skin - Based on Skin by t3-design
Counter Strike Source skin pretty much happy with it - calendar needs fixing

Lord Of The Rings Online Skin - Based on Skin by t3-design
Banner needs re-doing - not too happy with the skin but it fits the theme

Old School Skin - Originally based on old LDU Skin By BHS design - Then heavily edited by myself and converted to seditio
a lot of work has gone into this one over the years so i didnt want to leave it behind when i switch to seditio

Quake Wars Skin - Based on No IMG Skin By BHS design
Happy with this skin for now may end up changing it when the game comes out - Edited footer but all copyright is still in footer
