Go with the blue, its a great colour, it will save you the hassle of swapping seats, it wont look odd every time you open the bonnet, and you wont have to mess about informing the DVLA :)

Not when a family member is a sprayer and you've fixed his computers for free for years and is offering to do it any colour you like for free providing I pay for the paint :p

I don't care how many computers you've fixed he's not going to do a full external/internal respray for the cost of paint. The amount of man hours is crazy for a decent FULL repray.

The front end is covered in stone chips and a very big scratch on the front bumper, and overall its covered in swirl marks where previous owners have not washed it or looked after it properly.

Respray the bumper and bonnet and get it profressionally polished to remove the swirl marks. Your sprayer mate should be able to do that.

You then have a fairly original car rather than one that's had a 'free' respray.

If I was doing it myself I would be wary. But someone whos been in the business a good few years, it'll be fine :)

The stone chips and scratch are too deep and need paint work, plus the bonnet and bumpers are from a different zed, so in certain lights the car looks like bloody patch work :p

Oh dont get me wrong, I'm sure he'll do a good job but its still going to look odd from some angles.

A good detailing would be my first point of call - cutting the paint back would proably get rid of the swirls and help match it better. A smart repair on the rest and you're sorted

Those lights :( Don't do it!

J, if you're deadly sure that this guy can do a good job, I'd go for the grey. If you're not 100% in his abilities I'd just attack the car with a good machine polisher. You'll get very very good results.

How peeved would you be if the car came back with orange peel etc?

Keep it blue! Grey is nice but don't think it would be worth the money. Go with agw_01's idea, even pay a reputable car detailer to have a go! Some amazing results can be had.

keep it blue.

Will ask all sorts of questions about why it was resprayed if you leave under the engine bay etc.. blue.

And you dont want to go paying to strip the thing back to a shell.

If you do want to change colour, get it wrapped and then you can remove the wrap when come to sell and not face awkward questions about why its been resprayed.

There's a rover 75 round my way that's got a really deep metallic blue colour, in fact there are 2 on my road and that colour does look very good, so keep it blue but maybe have a look to see what other blues you can do.

EDIT: Doing a google suggests it might be the same colour as yours but in your pics it looks like a solid colour?

A rub down and blow over will suffice. Do you really really want to go through all the hassle of striping it to the shell to change the colour?

Quality of the photoshop reflects the likely quality of a free paint job :p
