In my budget i could have either or which one would you go for if you could choose (Both will be watercooled):

Usage:mainly to play games, watch dvds and litte bit of design work...

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 6000+ 3.0GHz Processor with HyperTransport and Dual Core Technology
Dual 768MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8800 Ultra - SLI Enabled (Might have to be GTX Version)

0r

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6700 2.66GHz 8MB Cache 1066MHz FSB
Dual 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8800 GT - SLI Enabled

thanks:D

PS Which is more future proof tech?

Are you buying these pre-built (you don't need to say where)? Because personally I'd buy neither and instead go for a Q9450 or similar then overclock which has the advantage of being about £90 cheaper so you could spend the difference on getting 2x 8800GTS and that should barely be any slower than 2x 8800GTX.

Also what size of monitor do you have/are you buying?

Yes it is a pre-built with 24" Monitor either BenQ FP241W or Samsung SM-245B (1920x1200 Resolution)

You probably don't want to hear this but I'd say don't go with either of them and build your own. These are just gonna cost you a lot (probably?) and by building your own you can save a lot of money and configure to your own needs. If I had to choose Iit would be hard because I don't 'like' both configurations. One has preferable vid card, other has preferable cpu in my opinion. The CPU is a bit of a money waster, get the Q6600 instead and the GTX, well it's great but I'd rather get a GTS or GT but that depends how you think about price/performance.
