Which Conroe for Gaming - 6300 or 6600

Like me.

I seriously see no point in getting a 6600. Even if it is faster in the odd application here and there it's really not a significant amount. It may encode a video a few minutes faster. So what? It's a waste of money.

a lot of people arguing that the 6600 can go higher easier than a 6300 are missing the point. This is for gaming. The processor at medium overclocks wont be the bottleneck. Whats the point in taking it to 3.6ghz when 3ghz generally isnt a bottleneck these days. My 4300 @ 3ghz isnt a bottleneck for my 8800.

lol its a simple answer. If you can afford the e6600 get that. If you cant get the e6300.

check around for the 6600. Can get them cheaper especially oem

6600, just incase it isnt stable at higher than stock speeds, like my 6300.

E6600 not worth it if your not gonna encode, that's where the 4mb cache comes in play. If just playing games & general usage get a E6300. The E6600 will be my choice in 2 -4 weeks time.

E6600, for the multi, better chance of a higher bin and 4Mb cache.

Of course the cache helps, howmuch is a matter for debate.
