Which Console Should I Get

I want to get a games console but need help to decide which one is best. At the moment I have a PC which I love but I always play it too much and then when it comes to doing coursework and such I dont feel like using anymore.

I first thought the Wii looked cool because I love the motion sensor controllers but then the games look pretty rubbish and have no depth. I like PC games mainly strategy and the wii looked pretty rubbish in its line up.

Then the Xbox I thought looked ok but games are a bit dull and boring with nothing original that makes you really want to play it although I havnt had a proper look at it yet.

Then the PS3 which looks like it has a pretty good line up of games coming out although it is a bit off a rip off and the blueray will probably be usesless when HD Disks take them over.

Thats what I have seen so far but was wondering if anyone knew any better than that and coudl offer me some advice on whihch one would be best.
 
Well i feel you haven't looked into the Xbox enough with a statement like boring games, it has some amazing titles

Wii - a great laugh.. if you have a few mates over not my idea of a single person console.

Xbox - fantastic games, features and good live system

PS3 - fantastic bit of kit, good features good online system - not the greatest games... yet they are few and far between

My choice would be the xbox had tonnes of fun on mine, really love it - but it depends on what games you wanna play i guess
 
I'll nip this in the bud before it all starts... Only you can decide which one you want, what games take your fancy? Just because someone else thinks a certain game is good doesn't mean that you'll agree. Have a look what games there are now and what's coming up. Every thread like this has turned into chaos because people are trying to tell others what they should and should not be buying/playing based on their own very prejudiced views. Do you prefer the Halo or the Metal Gear Solid series? PGR or GT? The choice is yours.
 
Right now I would say it's between the Wii and the 360, if you like having friends around and playing your console with them the it's the Wii you want. If you like single player games and playing online then you will prefer the 360.

The PS3 is similar to the 360 with the choice of games and gaming style but atm the gaming lineup is weak and the online options and service are inferior.

You could base a decision on opinion in here but wouldn't advise deciding on a platform like that. Listening to anyone talking about a preferred system in here and then basing a decision on purchase sounds like a real bad idea to me. As an individual I need to buy into a system that delivers what I want.

Anyone that suggest one console is better for you than the other, for any reason is going to be giving you bad advice because they nothing about you and you know nothing about them. As someone who uses more than one console there's no way I'd suggest one of them over the other.

If you're not sure right now, do more research. Look at the future of the platforms, current and future titles.

Wii - if you have real friends.
360 - if you don't mind ringing microsoft and waiting six weeks for a replacement when yours breaks (which it will).
PS3 - if you like folding@home.

Nah seriously, nobody can decide for you, look at them all and the current\future games lineup and decide for yourself.

The Wii if you enjoy Nintendo stuff (some of which will not necessarily be of a casual nature), casual gaming, quirky games, social gaming, the WiiMote, a smaller electricity bill, Smash Bros. Brawl.

The Xbox 360 is you enjoy lovely graphics, an awesome online service, PC quality games without the hassle and expense, Halo 3, a cheap HDDVD player (with the addon).

The Playstation 3 if you enjoy having the most powerful console on the market (theoretically, at least), PC quality games without the hassle and expense, a nice online service, a relatively cheap Blu-Ray player, Sony exclusive titles like Tekken and Gran Tourismo.

I own the 360 but I am seriously contemplating selling it in favour of the Wii (my second one). Nintendo fanboy at heart.

I'd go for the 360, although in reality you probably won't regret buying either the 360 or PS3. From what I've seen of the PS3 online service it does seem inferior to Xbox Live, and as others have said the gaming lineup for the PS3 is weak at the moment. The 360 does offer better bang for your buck compared to the more expensive PS3.
