Which Console Should I Get

In my opinion (thought I'd better mention this from the off) it's about gaming.

360 has the best single player / online games.
Wii has the best party games.
PS3 has some good games and some very good games to come.

At C. £250 for a brand new Premium 360 with games or £180 for a Core there really shouldn't be a question of whether or not you get one.

If you want party games that would justify getting a Wii.

The question is whether you now is a good time to get a PS3. At over £400 and arguably the worst of the 3 current game lines up I would say not.

So to own a PS3 and not a 360 is a no brainer, owning a 360 and contemplating whether to get a PS3 as well is more the question.

I don't want to start an arguement here, but the PS3's online service is in someways better than Live, and of course at present it's free :)

If you like large scale online gaming, i.e. 32/40 players lag free then the PS3 offers this.

It realy comes down to personal choice, and what type of gaming you enjoy.

lag free <-- lies

Just take a proper look at the games available for each of the 3 machines. As has already been mentioned, only you can decide really. Just see what games are out and what games are coming out for all formats.

The Wii is best if you play games with friends a lot but personally I don't find it so hot for single player. PS3 is a great machine but there's only a handful of games for it that I want, none of which are out any time soon. The 360 is a great machine with a ton of recent releases which I'm very much enjoying.

I own all 3 consoles, but that's just my view on the games situation :) It really boils down to what types of game you enjoy.

Well I've played Resistance, Motorstorm & Warhawk on full servers and have only experience minimal amount of lag on Motorstorm. That's with a 1mb connection so yes as I said at least for me it's lag free (pretty much):)

How would you know anyway?

Again this is down to what youre personally looking for. IMO ;) if you want a large games catalogue with a nice collection of games avalible now on an inferior machine, 360. If you want hardly any games and a long wait till a large games catalogue is avalible on a feriour machine, PS3. Or you could just get a Wii and experience both. :)

I saw that ninja edit ! :p But yes, the PS3 does a lot of things better in my opinion - namely providing an online service that's worth its salt for no charges and actually not dying most of the time.

Don't even mention technical specs, it always ends in disaster.

The OP simply asked what console to get and rather than read pages of people with differing opinions, I just think it's best to do research on the games.

Given what games are out and what games are coming out, the 360 is the only way to go for me but I appreciate not everyone thinks this way. I own all 3 consoles and my Wii and PS3 are hardly ever used - the PS3 due to a lack of games and the Wii because I get bored of all of its games within half an hour.

Avoid the arguments, do your own research :p

I owned a PS3 , but sold it. Thought it was over-rated.

I experienced horrendous lag on Motorstorm online.

R6V was laggy too.

Incidently I have 4MB connection.

I understand that PSN dedicated servers aren't laggy but I never tried these.
